MáXimo is the official source for designs by Alexander Girard. Widely considered the greatest colorist and textile designer of modern time, Girard used traditional folk art to infuse color, whimsy, and humor into vibrant modern design. It is our mission to promote his design legacy internationally through select máXimo products and collaborations with dynamic, reputable design companies and institutions.

We focus on bringing classic Girard designs back to the marketplace and re-creating Girard’s vision in new ways. For example, we worked with Maharam to reissue Girard textiles as part of its line "Textiles of the 20th Century", and with Vitra Design Museum, to release a family of hand crafted wooden dolls replicating those made by Girard for his private home. Other projects with companies like Kate Spade, House Industries, and Chronicle Books have brought new applications to his designs.

We are committed to raising awareness of Girard's contributions through education and exhibitions as well. Beginning with a retrospective of his work at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in 2000, we've collaborated on exhibits and publishing projects. Most recently, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art hosted an exhibition entitled “Alexander Girard: Vibrant Modern”. The combination of these and other projects has generated enthusiasm and demand for his designs. We continue to pursue unique, informative design projects that will keep fresh Girard designs in the market.
