Vitra Wooden Dolls
"Toys," said Alexander Girard, "represent a microcosm of man's world and dreams; they exhibit fantasy, imagination, humor and love."

máXimo visited the Vitra Design Museum in 2005, to explore potential collaborative projects. As we examined their extensive archives with the Girard family, we discovered these original dolls. Each one was hand carved by Alexander Girard in 1963 to decorate his Santa Fe Home with their bright, unusual charm.

For the first time, this unique collection is availalbe to anyone that appreciates an element of folk art and brilliant design in their own home. Vitra's executives, design team, and skilled Polish craftspeople, enabled us to bring these dolls to the market. Each doll is carved in solid pinewood and hand painted. They are delivered with a brochure in a high-quality printed wooden box.
